FC Köln once again filed an urgent application for more spectators | free press

Cologne.

After the permission of the city of Cologne for carnival celebrations subject to conditions, the Bundesliga soccer club 1. FC Köln submitted a new application to the Münster Higher Administrative Court for an urgent procedure for more spectators in the stadium. The club announced this.

The OVG confirmed receipt in the late afternoon.

In the previous week, Cologne, like Borussia Dortmund and Arminia Bielefeld, had filed an application against the rule of 750 spectators that was still in force, but after the country had increased the number of visitors to 10,000, the clubs withdrew their objections. On Wednesday, the city of Cologne declared that it would designate a so-called “customs zone” at carnival, in which vaccinated fools could celebrate with an additional test or a booster vaccination.

The association expressly welcomes this, according to a statement by the Cologne board. “Against this background, we also advocate the opportunity to fill the RheinEnergieStadion with at least 50 percent spectators.” According to this, 25,000 visitors are likely to come to the Cologne Arena for the next game against Eintracht Frankfurt on February 19.

“We are confident that we will also be legally convincing with our arguments,” explained the Cologne board of directors: “At the same time, we will continue the dialogue with politicians about fair and responsible opening perspectives beyond the legal examination.” (dpa)
