Regensburg – SSV Jahn Regensburg has probably taken away the last minimal hope in the relegation battle from FC Ingolstadt in the 2nd Bundesliga.

Attacker Andreas Albers secured a point for Jahn in front of 12,089 spectators in the Jahnstadion at 1:1 (0:1) with his goal in the 56th minute. However, the people from Upper Palatinate missed the 40-point mark they had hoped for with a home win.

The Schanzer, on the other hand, missed their second win in a row in a hard-fought Bavarian duel after Christian Gebauer scored the opening goal (36th). Nine points behind 16th place should not be catching up for the Ingolstadt team in the last five games.

Fight, fouls and interruptions shaped the dogged game. Jahn goalkeeper Alexander Meyer did not cut a good figure at Gebauer’s goal. Leon Guwara’s deflected cross descended over him into the goal. FCI keeper Robert Jendrusch saved the visitors from the 1-1 when Bendikt Saller (40′) and Charalambos (43′) shot.

Florian Pick almost made it 2-0 for Ingolstadt after the break, but was denied by Meyer (48′). When it was 1-1, there was chaos in the Ingolstadt penalty area after a corner. Albers poked the ball over the line. In the final phase, Jahn was closer to victory, captain Benedikt Gimber headed on the crossbar in injury time.
