FC Groningen Threatens Report Against Journalist for Stadium Ban Revelation at Ajax Match

FC Groningen threatened on Friday with a report against a journalist. The club has heard that the journalist wants to show at the home match against Ajax next Sunday how you can still enter the stadium with a stadium ban.

According to information from FC Groningen, the journalist intends to take place undercover in the stands of the Euroborg, together with the man who has been banned from the stadium.

The club has now informed the Groningen police and the KNVB of the matter. In a statement the journalist is asked to abandon his plan, “because it does not contribute to solving the problem of stadium bans”.

“By deliberately bringing this person in, an unwanted signal is given,” reports FC Groningen. “The media representative may also be guilty of a criminal offense for which he or she can be prosecuted. Ignoring a stadium ban, but also provoking it, is punishable.”

FC Groningen has a lot to do with misbehavior from supporters this season. Two more fans recently received a long stadium ban; one for hitting player Jetro Willems and one for entering the field.

The fan incidents fit seamlessly into FC Groningen’s dramatic season. ‘De Trots van het Noorden’ has already been relegated with three Eredivisie rounds to go and will therefore play in the Kitchen Champion Division next year.
