Emergency board member Turgay Schmidt is promoting the “recovery” of the regional soccer division FC Gießen and after a meeting with the “FCG Offensive GmbH” on Tuesday evening, “that the GmbH has nothing to do with FC Gießen anymore. The registered association takes over all business again. FC Giessen is now in one hand again – the club only works as a whole if we consider all departments, from youth to regional league, together. ”
The “FCG Offensive GmbH”, founded in April 2020, with managing director Markus Haupt and the partners Marcel Roscher, Kai Braun, Salvatore Cuneo and Jakup Alija had recently managed the business and marketing of the regional league team, but at the same time always emphasized that it was not for to see the entire club with youth and 2nd team responsible. This handling led to several problems.
The GmbH took out the fillet with the first team
“The motivation of the GmbH was to help FC Gießen”, explains attorney Turgay Schmidt, who has been running the club since the beginning of October after the board of directors withdrew. “But the GmbH took out the fillet with the first team.” The concerns of the regional league team, trained by Daniyel Cimen, were dealt with by the GmbH this season, while the unmanaged club as a whole was faced with numerous outstanding financial claims.

In fact, there was never a legal connection between the GmbH and the club, the game rights are still with “FC Gießen 1927 Teutonia / 1900 VfB eV” – but the sponsorship contracts and any income from which the first team benefited ran through the GmbH. The claims against the club, including the much-cited legacy issues, remained, youth coaches have not received any money for this season, the second team fell completely behind in the overall view. In the overall mix, this was the result of a lack of structures and a lack of guidelines in the club.
The association only works as a whole
The GmbH nonetheless did not feel responsible for the failures of the past, managed the regional league troops, while the entire club threatened to hit the wall. “The association only works as a whole,” explains Turgay Schmidt, who praised the “constructive discussions” of the two-and-a-half-hour session in the VIP tent on Tuesday evening and looks confidently to the future: “This is undoubtedly a clear turning point. As a consequence, it is the next step in perspective. If the structural changes and the measures introduced take effect and work as planned, FC Giessen could have a good future.

The responsibility for the sponsorship contracts is now again exclusively with the club, which can offer a service in return with the playing rights and other rights also on a legal basis. If lawyer Turgay Schmidt has his way, the separation within the association should be a thing of the past. “We want to get FC Giessen on the right track. The smallest G-youth kicker is just as important as the regional league player. ”For their part, the shareholders of the GmbH have confirmed their support for FC Giessen in the future.
