FC Bossonnens: From Gun-Wielding Pensioner to Tenth-Ranked Swiss Football Club Thanks to Inter Milan Buzz

You probably haven’t heard of FC Bossonnens, unless you heard a story from 2020 where a pensioner threatened youth footballers with a hunting gun because he thought they were too noisy in training.

But now the tiny fifth-division team has gained so many fans on Instagram that it has risen to tenth place in the ranking of Swiss football clubs, with more followers than Lugano and Stade Lausanne combined.

FC Bossonnens surprisingly owes a lot of attention to Inter Milan. The “Nerazzurri” met Genoa in the last match of last year on Friday and published a graphic with the expected line-ups on the social network. On the chest of the Armenian star Henrich Mkhitaryan, they marked the profile of FC Bossonnens.

The link probably got there by mistake and the Italian club has already corrected this mistake. However, there was a huge interest in the small team from the west of Switzerland, and in a short time it gained an incredible number of fans. Over 33,000 people follow FC Bossonnens.

The management of the team is now trying to make the most of the situation and is reportedly trying to establish contact with Inter Milan, with whom they want to arrange a friendly match.
