Stadium premiere at FC Bayern! In the new season, the Munich soccer team will also be playing in the league for the first time in the Allianz Arena.
On Matchday 4 (October 14, 2023), the team will play their Bundesliga premiere there against Eintracht Frankfurt. “When all the World Cup drivers are back, they can look forward to another big stage together with the whole team, because for the first time our women’s Bundesliga game will take place in the Allianz Arena,” said CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen on Sunday (July 23).
Bayern women: Allianz Arena so far only in the Champions League
So far, three Champions League games have taken place in the arena, with a total of around 60,000 spectators. In the Bundesliga, the clubs only made the stadium available to their women’s departments in exceptional cases.
“It’s the next important and logical step in the development of women’s football at FC Bayern Munich,” said Dreesen, who also sent greetings to the four World Cup drivers. “The German women’s national team will start the World Cup on Monday, and of course we’re keeping our fingers crossed for our participants Lina Magull, Lea Schüller, Klara Bühl and Sydney Lohmann.”
Department head Bianca Rech is looking forward to the Bundesliga premiere in the arena: “We’re really looking forward to our Bundesliga debut in the Allianz Arena and we’re counting on the support of numerous fans again in the top game against Eintracht Frankfurt. We always think about when it makes sense to move from the FC Bayern Campus to the Allianz Arena.”
“With the experience from our three appearances there so far, we are sure that the game against Frankfurt will be another milestone,” said Rech with conviction.
The women presented themselves to the 45,000 fans in front of the Bayern men on Sunday. “We want to get even better and try to bring even more titles to Munich. We have a good team and want to achieve a lot,” said coach Alexander Straus. In the past season, the Munich women had won the German championship. (dpa)
