There are rumors of demands for millions: FC Bayern is reportedly taking a new approach to Davies poker

According to information from the Sports picture Munich are apparently ready to sell Davies if the 23-year-old’s salary demands become too high. If Davies and his advisor Nick Huoseh demand a doubling of the annual salary to around 13 to 14 million euros per year, Bayern will aim for a sale this summer – because they don’t want to let Davies go for a free transfer. The Canadian was recently missing from the start of training after the winter break.

Already in mid-December SkyExpert Florian Plettenberg reports that both parties are far apart when it comes to salary expectations. Contract extension at FC Bayern or move in the summer?

There have been rumors about the 44-time national player for weeks. Davies is on the list at several top European clubs, especially Real Madrid. The Spanish record champions are probably in pole position if Bayern let Davies go. Accordingly, President Florentino Pérez and Real coach Carlo Ancelotti see the defender as the optimal reinforcement for the left side of the defense.

Sea Sky The Madrilenians’ squad planner, Juni Calafat, has apparently already asked Huoseh about a possible change. According to the report, Calafat has made it clear to Davies and his followers not to extend the contract in Munich. Accordingly, an offer should be made in the summer. Huoseh has repeatedly raved about Real in the past.

In Madrid, the commitment should have the highest priority, recently revealed José Félix Díaz, editor-in-chief and Real expert at the generally well-informed Spanish newspaper Brand. The Royals are also ready to meet Davies’ salary demands.

If it actually goes on sale in the summer, the Bayern bosses should be happy about a big transfer bonus. In January 2019, Davies came from the Vancouver Whitecaps for around 14 million euros and developed into one of the best full-backs in the world at Säbener Straße, playing 119 games across all competitions (as of January 17, 2024) for FC Bayern. Its market value is around 70 million euros (source: transfermarkt.de).

Whether Real really offers that much is doubtful given the remaining term of the contract, but Bayern are unlikely to let Davies go for less than 50 million – also in order to have the budget for an adequate replacement. (LuHa)
