FC Bayern has to accept a surprising setback. The record champions’ team is almost completely disappointing. Harry Kane almost completely disappears, a star looks amateur when he concedes a goal. The individual criticism.
Julian Buhl reports from the Allianz Arena
A bitter setback in the fight for the German championship: The 0-1 home defeat against Werder Bremen on matchday 18 hit FC Bayern completely out of nowhere. “We were just too sluggish, simply without life,” said Munich national player Thomas Müller on DAZN. And further: “That was of course a big slap in the face for us – but we helped there too.”
The German record champions disappointed against Bremen with a largely uninspired performance and bad luck in the end. Coach Thomas Tuchel also confirmed: “That was clearly not enough. For 70 minutes I didn’t have the feeling that we were determined to win. We didn’t move at all in the first half.”
Things are now getting difficult for Munich in the title race with leaders Bayer Leverkusen: The Werkself are already seven points ahead of Bayern, and even with a win in the catch-up game next week against Union Berlin, the gap can only be reduced to three points.
In any case, there must be a significant increase in performance. Because many Bayern stars had to take a break against Bremen – one was even a total loss. You can see who that is in the photo show above or here.
