Fürth – Julian Nagelsmann happily applauded the exhausted Bayern stars, longer than anyone else he stayed with the hapless Robert Lewandowski.
The Munich team won 3: 1 (2: 0) against SpVgg Greuther Fürth, but the world footballer’s series of goals broke after he had previously scored 15 games in a row. Lewandowski does not take it easy, reported Nagelsmann from the cabin. “We know that he is very greedy, wants to score goals, but also wants more balls in the game.” However, if they are outnumbered, it is difficult for a striker.
Soccer world champion Benjamin Pavard brought down the deficit for the series champion with his dismissal (48th). Nagelsmann found the “legitimate red card” to be “annoying”. The Frenchman was the last man to be late with his tackle. And thus also hindered Lewandowski’s plans.
Lewandowski comes away empty-handed
The Polish international could have scored at least once in a row in the 16th league game. On the nightly return trip on the A9 from Franconia to the Bavarian capital, the Bayern stars could look forward to the next victory and the consolidated lead in the standings. “We are happy with the way things are going, but we always have to take the next step and improve,” said Thomas Müller. “It’s complaining at a high level, but we can play even more fluently.” With his 218th goal in the FCB jersey, the Upper Bavarian overtook long-time CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge in third place among the most accurate Bayern players.
Müller (10th minute), Joshua Kimmich (31st) and the Fürth Sebastian Griesbeck with an own goal (68th) ensured a successful mood for Kiev on Friday evening in front of 11,740 spectators. “At the moment we are in a good mood, but we haven’t done all the games with confidence,” said Kimmich. But the result speaks for Bayern.
