FC Bayern will face Paris Saint-Germain in the round of 16 of the Champions League. While PSG sporting director Luis Campos is eager for revenge against the German record champions, the French media are not that optimistic.
“PSG faces their bugbear,” he wrote The Parisian: “Bayern are an old acquaintance and the end result is an almost unplayable opponent.” The portal too sofoot he saw no reason to be happy: “A date in Bruges would have been a little better than an appearance as a guest of FC Bayern.”
The overall balance speaks for the PSG. The French have won six out of eleven games and the Munich team five. Most recently, both teams met in the quarter-finals of the 2020/2021 premier class.
At the time, PSG won 3-2 in the first leg at the Allianz Arena, so the FCB’s 1-0 win at Prinzenpark was not enough. “They will be two great matches for us,” said Campos RMC Sport and assured not to be afraid of Bayern: “We are very happy with our season and we have every reason to be confident and positive.”
It is a “great opportunity to take revenge. This is our chance to fix 2020 and show the world that PSG has one of the strongest teams in the world.” Campos was referring to the 2020 Champions League final, which Monaco won 1-0 against Paris. Incidentally, the scorer at the time was Kingsley Coman, a Frenchman.
