Manuel Neuer’s injury apparently upsets Bayern’s transfer plans. A desired player has probably already been deleted.
WHAT HAPPENED? Manuel Neuer’s injury and the search for a successor apparently has a direct impact on FC Bayern’s transfer plans to other positions. According to a report by sports picture the planned commitment of right-back Malo Gusto has therefore already been shelved.
WHAT IS THE BACKGROUND? The record champions are said to have originally planned to forego winter transfers and instead make reinforcements in the summer. Sports director Hasan Salihamidzic had long spoken out against newcomers in January. However, the injury misery recently led to a rethink.
Daley Blind has already been brought in to replace Lucas Hernández, although the financial burden of the Dutchman’s transfer is limited. The search for a replacement for captain Neuer, on the other hand, is much more important, especially since there are internal doubts as to whether and when the 36-year-old will be available again.
Gusto was last traded as a possible summer signing should Benjamin Pavard leave the club as expected. For the 19-year-old from Olympique Lyon, however, a transfer fee of at least 20 million euros would be due – too much for Bayern after the latest developments.

WHAT’S NEXT? It is not yet clear who will replace Neuer. Preferred candidate Yann Sommer is currently not being released by Borussia Mönchengladbach, and a return campaign for Alexander Nübel, who was loaned to Monaco, is also becoming increasingly unlikely.
