FC Bayern Munich Eyes Georgian Goalkeeper Mamardashvili as Potential Reinforcement

According to the information of the renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano, the German football club FC Bayern Munich was looking at the Georgian Giorgi Mamardashvili as a potential reinforcement for the goalkeeper post. The 22-year-old goalkeeper attracted the interest of the Bavarians thanks to his performances in the jersey of the Spanish Valencia.

Sport Bild reported that Bayern were scouting the player and that there had been contact between representatives of both parties, but no concrete negotiations had taken place yet. Mamardashvili is not expected to start immediately at the Allianz Arena. At the age of 22, he would have time to establish himself in the future as a successor to the thirty-seven-year-old captain Manuel Neuer, who has been wearing the Munich shirt since the 2011/12 season.

According to Roman, several clubs from the English Premier League and Italian Serie A are also interested in the Georgian goalkeeping unit. Mamardashvili has a valid contract with Valencia until 2027. Valencia has had an unsuccessful season in La Liga, when it finished 16th and from the relegation zone they were separated by only two points. Mamardashvili was the team’s number one player and caught all 38 league matches.
