Thomas Müller congratulated Robert Lewandowski on his new title. The Bayern professional compared himself and the goalscorer with two absolute icons of US sport.
Munich – In the world of sports there are legendary duos who shape their discipline permanently. In ice hockey, for example, this would apply to the NHL greats Wayne Gretzky and Mark Messier, in American football, for many fans, this would be Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski. Now Bayern professional Thomas Müller drew a daring comparison with two legends of US sports.
FC Bayern: Lewandowski Footballer of the Year – Thomas Müller reacts with a Photoshop experiment
On the occasion of the award for Footballer of the Year 2021, Müller congratulated his teammate and Bundesliga record top scorer Robert Lewandowski in a very special way. “Congratulations on the title as footballer of the year, well deserved,” he wrote to his offensive partner on Instagram.
The currently most successful two-man combo in German football was responsible for 52 of the 99 goals this season in the league last season. In addition, Müller put on an astonishing 21 goals for his teammates, Lewandowski assisted in seven success stories.
So it’s no wonder that Müller took a well-known picture of the legendary NBA duo Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan and swapped the athletes’ heads without further ado. The Weilheimer presented his amateur photomontage on Instagram, in which he copied Lewandowski’s head onto Michael Jordan’s head. He also added the FC Bayern logo to the Chicago Bulls’ jersey.

In the early 1990s, Pippen and Jordan started with the Bulls, winning six titles together between 1991 and 1998. At the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona both were part of the “Dream Team” that won the gold medal. Pippen was considered to be Jordan’s congenial partner, and Müller probably put his head on his shoulders for a reason.
But there is also an announcement behind the funny contribution. “I’m trying to challenge you next year,” continued Müller and posted a video to go with it, in which he trained on a punching bag. The contribution is rounded off with a selfie of the two stars from the cabin, on which Lewy happily presents his top scorer. His hashtag #richtigknappwaresjanicht proves that the Pole was by far the hottest candidate for the individual honor given his 41 goals this season for Müller. (ajr)
