A good 48 hours after moving from FC Bayern Munich to SV Elversberg, Paul Wanner demonstrated his skills in the new jersey for the first time.
Munich/Elversberg – He came, crossed and won! In his first game for SV Elversberg, Paul Wanner initiated the victory of the reigning third division champions. SVE trainer Horst Steffen sent the 17-year-old onto the field in the 68th minute. Eleven minutes later, VfL Osnabrück’s box rang.
The super talent from FC Bayern, on loan to Saarland for a season, got the ball on the left wing, let his opponent run into nothing with a small deception and crossed from the edge of the penalty area with his strong left foot precisely in front of the hosts’ goal. Wahid Faghir, also on loan from VfB Stuttgart and shortly before taken as a joker along with Wanner, headed the ball from six yards out to make it 1-0 into the net of Osnabürck keeper Philipp Kühn.

“It is now important for Paul’s further development to continuously get match practice in a professional league,” said Jochen Sauer, director of youth development at FC Bayern, on Friday after the midfielder’s loan. Wanner switched to the promoted team on Friday. 48 hours after signing, he celebrated his first sense of achievement in the 2nd Bundesliga.
Apparently there had been completely different plans for the junior international. As the Munich Merkur and the tz reported in the weekend edition on Saturday, a loan to Austria was actually planned. In addition to the Belgian club KAS Eupen with German coach Florian Kohlfeldt, Sturm Graz had also shown interest in Wanner. The offensive player could even have hoped for appearances in the Europa League with the runners-up in the Austrian Bundesliga. (jb)
