Season start for Bayern!
In the first round of the DFB Cup, second division newcomers SSV Ulm will host FC Bayern Munich. Can Ulm upset the big favorites or will Bayern master the competitive opening match with ease? It starts on Friday evening at 8.45 p.m. BILD knows how you can watch the match live on TV and stream.

FC Bayern have not had any success in the DFB Cup in recent years. The last triumph was in 2020. After that, it was usually over unusually early. The second round exit last season against third division side 1. FC Saarbrücken (1:2) was particularly embarrassing. The pressure to succeed on new coach Vincent Kompany (38) is huge after the first titleless season in 12 years – he now has to deliver from the start.
Under the Belgian, the record champions played a decent preparation, winning twice against Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur – the former club of Bayern striker Harry Kane (31). The performance against regional league club 1. FC Düren (1:1) was more sobering.

For the hosts SSV Ulm, the season in the 2nd Bundesliga has already begun – with a false start. After two match days, the promoted team has no points, losing to Kaiserslautern (1:2) and in Regensburg (0:1). Now the cup highlight against Bayern comes at the worst possible time. A glimmer of hope: Ulm coach Thomas Wörle (42) knows FC Bayern very well, having coached the Munich women’s team from 2010 to 2019. Could that be an advantage?
