Norwegian Alexander Straus will be the new head coach of Bayern Munich’s women’s soccer team.
The 46-year-old from Norwegian champions SK Brann succeeds Jens Scheuer, who was released at the end of the season. Bayern did not provide any information about the contract period.
“He brings with him many years of varied experience at the top level. Alexander is characterized by being able to develop players and teams. For us and our new head coach, this will be a new start that offers a great opportunity,” said department head Karin Danner.
FC Bayern lands behind VfL Wolfsburg
Straus underlined the ambitions of the Bayern women, who had finished second in the league behind VfL Wolfsburg and failed in the quarter-finals of the Champions League at Paris St. Germain. “As part of a big club like Bayern, our goal must always be to win every competition we take part in,” said the coach.
