Polish goalkeeper Szczesny, who retired from football a few weeks ago, is joining Spanish club Barcelona, as the Catalan club announced on Wednesday.
Barcelona said in a statement, “FC Barcelona and Szczesny have reached an agreement on a contract until June 30, 2025.”
The move of the 32-year-old goalkeeper came to compensate for the absence of his German colleague, Marc-Andre ter Stegen, who suffered a complete tear in his knee tendon and will not be away from the field for a long time.
Szczesny played 84 international matches, the last of which was at the 2024 European Cup, where he started as Poland lost their first two games in the group stage, but got rest in the last game, which was marginal against France.
During his professional career, he played for the English clubs Arsenal and Juventus, and played more than 600 games at club levels and national team Cups twice.
