FC Barcelona reveal terrifying business figures

Anyone who thought that FC Barcelona had their backs to the wall financially, can see from the official figures that the club has now published: It is much worse.

On Wednesday, the heavily indebted club published the figures for the 2020/21 season – and they are anything but good: Sales shrank by 224 million euros to 631 million euros compared to the previous year, while spending piled up to 1.136 billion euros. We didn’t have a maths advanced course, but we wouldn’t like to announce the minus after tax of 481 million euros at the general meeting.

It is slowly becoming clear why Lionel Messi’s contract with his club, which is close to his heart, could not be extended, even though the corona pandemic only seems to play a minor role in the poor record: “Without the effects of COVID-19, the result for the 2020/21 season would have been -390 million euros” it says in the message on the Homepage of the Catalans – according to the pandemic, the pandemic only accounts for 92 million euros.

Club boss Ferran Reverter blames ex-president Josep Maria Bartomeu in particular for the bad result, because he had “Players signed and nobody thought about whether they could be paid.” The new boss still gives the fans hope for the future: “The best players in the world will be playing here again soon.”

Will Jogi Löw take over FC Barcelona?

Since the end of the European Championship in the summer with the German national team, Jogi Löw has been without a job – but that could change now – according to current reports, a top club is showing interest.

After the disappointing results of the last few weeks, most of the Spanish media are expecting the dismissal of this week Ronald Koeman at the FC Barcelona. Former RAC1 journalist Gerard Romero is now talking about an interesting successor: Jogi Löw!

In the summer, the 61-year-old was already traded as the successor to Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid, but Los Blancos ultimately opted for Carlo Ancelotti – now FC Barcelona seem to have their eyes on the 2014 world champions.

Löw recently revealed that he is already learning the Spanish language – so it is quite possible that we will soon see him on the sidelines in “La Liga”!
