“FC Barcelona President Presents Official Financing Agreement for Espai Barça Remodeling Project”

The president of FC Barcelona, ​​​​Joan Laporta, has officially presented the financing agreement for Espai Barça today after the Club announced last Monday the closing of the operation for a value of 1,450 million euros that guarantees the start of the works remodeling of the Spotify Camp Nou starting this summer.

In front of almost fifty media and representatives of the Club, as well as the entities that have participated in the operation, Laporta described this agreement as “the most important institutional project in the history of the Club” and added that it is of a milestone that allows “fulfilling a dream of Barcelona, ​​since it will be the best stadium in the world”.

But beyond the institutional importance, the president of FC Barcelona has remarked that the operation is, above all, “a test of faith in Fútbol Club Barcelona”. “It means that the institution is more alive than ever and that we are enjoying great confidence from the national and international financial markets. Barça has come out stronger ”, he stated.

In his speech, the president recalled that this agreement respects the commitments acquired by the Club and that the members ratified in a referendum, such as that the operation will never imply costs for the members, that the Club’s assets will not be mortgaged and that sports management will be put at risk. In this sense, Joan Laporta has been blunt and has stated: “We will maintain the governance model and the 146,000 members will be able to continue enjoying their status as owners.”

Laporta has referred to the complexity of the operation and has taken the opportunity to express his gratitude to all those who have made this agreement possible, starting with the investors, a total of 20, as well as the directors, executives and workers of the Club who have worked “very good in a complicated environment”. As regards management, the President made special mention of Elena Fort, Institutional Vice President, Eduard Romeu, Economic Vice President, as well as managers Àngel Riudalbas, Juli Guiu, Jordi Llauradó, and Treasurer Ferran Olivé.

In a solemn and emotional tone, the president concluded his speech with a look to the future, when the team returns to the Spotify Camp Nou after just over a season playing at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys due to the works. “We will return at the end of 2024 coinciding with the anniversary of FC Barcelona. It will be a legacy that we will leave to our Barcelona grandsons and granddaughters”, he stated.
