FC Barcelona Players Banned from Showering After Home Games Due to Drought Restrictions in Catalonia

“The suit is chafing and I haven’t showered today” sang Joakim Berg back in 1995.

FC Barcelona players can sing it soon.

Well, there is probably nothing wrong with the Spotify-sponsored “costumes” that the Barça players run around in on the pitch.

But there won’t be any showers right after the home games in January.

Applies to all teams

The drought is long-lasting and record-breaking in Catalonia, and FC Barcelona will have to pay extra for all the water they use at both the training facility and the match arena.

In exchange for the permission to water the football pitches, the club must turn off the showers in the dressing room to conserve water.

The newspaper is one of the newspapers reporting that the shower ban will apply to all teams in Catalonia, without exception.

Got to shower in CL

The new restrictions to save water are expected to apply from January. Then the Barça players can shower at home.

On Wednesday evening, however, the players were allowed to shower in the arena. Barcelona lost to Belgium’s Royal Antwerp away from home in the final match of the Champions League group stage.
