With strong performances, Mason Greenwood (22) has played his way back into the focus of the top international clubs after a month-long break. According to a report, FC Barcelona is currently leading the race for the Englishman despite great competition.
Mason Greenwood was once considered one of English football’s greatest attacking hopes. Due to numerous allegations against the Englishman, he was dropped from Manchester United and has been playing on loan at Getafe FC since the summer. There he rehabilitated himself and played back into the focus of the top international clubs.
As the English The Sun now reports, FC Barcelona is said to be considering signing the Englishman and is even leading the race. The Catalans are convinced that Greenwood is the perfect addition to the squad. However, there are a number of clubs that would like to sign the 22-year-old.
Long list of interested parties for Greenwood
With Atletico Madrid, FC Valencia and Real Sociedad, three Spanish clubs alone are said to be interested in him. Staying at Getafe is by no means out of the question for him. His loan contract with the Spaniards is valid until the end of the season, his contract in Manchester expires in 2025 – a return is probably not planned.

Before his loan to Getafe, the striker’s career seemed to be on the verge of failure; in Spain he was given a new opportunity, which he took advantage of impressively. After 15 games he has five goals and four assists.
Ten Hag probably wanted to keep Greenwood
The former England international was arrested in January 2022 on charges of attempted rape, coercion and assault after his then-partner shared an incriminating video on social media.
Since then he has been out of Man United. The charges were finally dropped in February, meaning he could theoretically have returned to the Red Devils squad. But the club decided against reintegrating him, even though United coach Erik ten Hag (53) would have liked to bet on him, according to the Sun.
