FC Barcelona joins forces with the City Council to promote the BCN Sports Tech Hub

FC Barcelona joins the BCN Sports Tech Hub project. The Barça team, who were present at the official presentation of the hub of innovation and sports technology, takes a step forward by signing an agreement with the City Council to promote it.

In the meeting between both institutions, the importance of technology applied to sport as a booming sector that can contribute to the economic reactivation and the projection of the city’s brand in the international arena.

The City Council and Barça will participate next week, together with other promoters of the initiative, in a first meeting to lay the foundations of the project, of which companies, large corporations, institutions, start ups and other technological actors that develop projects to transform and improve the management and practice of sport, including projects related to sports (such as electronic sports, which have become a global mass phenomenon).

The president of the club, Joan Laporta, stressed that “FC Barcelona and the city of Barcelona have always been hand in hand when faced with major city projects and especially in sports dynamics ”.

In addition, both institutions have committed to continue working to promote the Barcelona and Barça brands in the international arena, which will serve to strengthen the link between both entities, with specific actions that will be carried out on the occasion of relevant events.

Barcelona City Council promotes the creation of a hub of innovation and sports technology in Montjuïc, as part of the city’s economic reactivation plan. A project that will be divided into two phases through which an incubator of start ups in the Olympic Stadium to, later, recover the Sports Palace, located at the foot of Montjuïc mountain, and give it back the practice of sports and create a space designed for eSports and sports technology. The investment in this project will be 30 million euros.
