Xavi and FC Barcelona had been hoping for months that they would soon be able to lure one of the biggest talents in European football to the club, the Belgian Arthur Vermeerent. It looks like nothing will come of it, because Atlético Madrid has overtaken it.
According to consistent press reports, the negotiations are coming to an end, the “mattresses” will sign the eighteen-year-old talent of Royal Antwerp for 27 million euros. Belgium’s HLN claims the footballer has received permission from his club to travel to the Spanish capital on Thursday; if all goes according to plan, the transfer could soon become official.
Vermeeren was brought up by the people of Antwerp, he has been a member of all age group national teams for years, and last October he made his debut among the adults.
