FC Barcelona hacked: game won, Twitter account lost

A 2-1 (2-0) win against the surprising third Getafe CF, tie with the big rival Real Madrid – and then Neymar comes back? No, it’s not that far at FC Barcelona. Nevertheless, the official Twitter account of the Catalans had reported exactly this after the league game on Saturday. But the sender was not Barca’s social media team, but the hacking group OurMine.

In a tweet there was little serious mention of the fact that “private messages” informed about an impending return campaign by Neymar. Instead of the transfer plans of the Catalans, the campaign was probably primarily about self-marketing: In another tweet, the hackers made reference to their website and contact address. Already in 2017 “OurMine” took over the club’s Twitter account for a short time, Barcelona’s security level has meanwhile become “better, but not yet the best”.

In the afternoon, FC Barcelona regained control of its account and deleted the relevant messages. Attacks have also targeted other prominent social media channels. The same hacker group had only taken over the Twitter account from Facebook at the beginning of February, parallel to the current Barça hack, the official account of the Olympic Games also posted on behalf of OurMine.

Expensive win against Getafe

Beyond social media, FC Barcelona had a successful day: Antoine Griezmann (33.minute) and Sergi Roberto (39.) scored Getafe in the home game, for the guests Ángel Rodríguez only scored the connecting goal (66.). Left-back Jordi Alba had to be replaced after a good 20 minutes. According to the club, the 30-year-old suffered an adductor injury, initially no downtime was mentioned.

Due to the 2-1 draw, the team of coach Quique Setién temporarily draws points with Real Madrid (54 each), but the Madrilenians can restore the old gap of three points on Sunday evening against Celta Vigo.
