FC’s convincing victory Barcelona in the Clásico against Real Madrid has not gone unnoticed in the United States. None other than Lionel Messi has made itself heard almost 24 hours after the historic edition between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona. It has now been more than three years since Messi closed the door in Catalonia, but he still proves that he is very fond of his old club.
FC Barcelona had made an excellent start to the new season, but almost everyone agreed that coach Hans-Dieter Flick’s formation would only be really tested after the international break. After all, not only the cracker against Bayern Munich in the Champions League was on the program, but also the away match against arch-rival Real Madrid. However, FC Barcelona already gained a lot of confidence three days before the meeting with Bayern by beating Sevilla from pillar to post (5-1) and the club from southern Germany also had to believe it (4-1).
So it did not go unnoticed by Messi. During his time as a star of FC Barcelona, the Argentinian played several memorable games against Real Madrid, including the 0-4 in the 2015/16 season. Nine years later, FC Barcelona triumphed again with those numbers in the lion’s den. “What a great victory!!”, Messi responds under a post from FC Barcelona on Instagram, figuratively applauding the performance of Flick and his men. People cannot believe their luck on social media. FC Barcelona fans are overjoyed with Messi’s recognition. “Ladies and gentlemen, it happened. Lionel Messi doesn’t comment much on social media, but he just couldn’t help but react to the historic 0-4!!,” someone wrote on X.
Messi is certainly not the only former FC Barcelona player who made himself heard after the historic evening in Madrid. For example, Neymar reacts under a video of an overjoyed Raphinha with the words ‘Visca Barça’. Gerard Pique and Puyol are also impressed. The two former defenders of FC Barcelona and the Spanish national team know better than anyone what it is like to treat Real Madrid to a major defeat. Both Piqué and Puyol were part of FC Barcelona that won 2-6 at the Santiago Bernabéu in 2009. With one goal each, Piqué and Puyol even had an important share in that victory.
