The Bundesliga has its first coach dismissal of the new season! As FC Augsburg announced, the previous coach Enrico Maaßen has been released.
“After the first seven games of the season and the home defeat against Darmstadt, we took the necessary time to shed light on the current sporting situation and the developments of our team. After open discussions with Enrico Maaßen, we came to the conclusion that we need to make a change in the position of head coach,” sporting director Marinko Jurendic was quoted as saying in a press release on Monday evening.

Even before the separation from Maaßen, things had become restless in Augsburg: last month, managing director Stefan Reuter announced his immediate withdrawal after eleven years as part of a restructuring.

Meanwhile, speculation about Maaßen’s successor is gaining momentum: according to Sportbuzzer, among others, the former U21 national coach and Stefan Kuntz, who has been available as coach of the Turkish selection since his release, is being traded.
Ralph Hasenhüttl, former RB Leipzig coach from Austria, who was last coach in England at FC Southampton for four years, would also be free.
