FC Annecy players, relegated to National because of disciplinary sanctions taken after Bordeaux-Rodez, are demanding a Ligue 2 with 21 teams next season. The Haut-Savoyards have written an open letter to the government and the football authorities.
FC Annecy does not give up. The Haut-Savoyard club, “collateral victim” of the disciplinary sanctions taken after Bordeaux-Rodez, must be maintained next season in a Ligue 2 “with 21 teams”, demanded the players, Monday, in an open letter to the government and to the football bodies.
“We are in danger and we would like to ask for your help and your intervention regarding our sporting future”, wrote Ahmed Kashi, UNFP delegate (players’ union), in a letter to the Minister of Sports, Amélie Oudéa-Castéra, at president of the Federation, Philippe Diallo, and that of the League, Vincent Labrune.
The disciplinary committee inflicted a defeat on green carpet in Bordeaux after the intrusion of a supporter to push a player from Rodez, Lucas Buades, during the final day of Ligue 2. The three points awarded to the Ruthenian club (16th) assure him the maintenance, in front of Annecy (17th) which is relegated in National.
Kashi warns of “the dramatic economic and sporting consequences”
“We could therefore also be sanctioned by the decision of the disciplinary committee when we have nothing to do with this case. How can we accept it?” writes Ahmed Kashi on behalf of the entire Haute-Savoie workforce.
The midfielder who passed through Metz and Troyes, in particular, warns of “the dramatic economic and sporting consequences”, “with a significant drop in our salary for some, or worse, without a club and unemployed for others who had an extension negotiated in the event of maintenance”.
The players of Annecy, semi-finalists of the Coupe de France, “should not be the collateral victims of extra sporting events which do not concern them”, supports the UNFP delegate.
“You are the guarantors of ethics, fairness and sports justice and you have the solution which would not penalize any party: Ligue 2 to 21”, against 20 teams currently, a hypothesis provided for by the regulations, assures he.
The Bordeaux club, for its part, turned to the Olympic Committee (CNOSF) to contest the sanction pronounced by the disciplinary committee. The opinion, advisory, is expected in the hours to come.
