New Delhi ∙ CBI controls 105 centers in the country in connection with cyber fraud. The raid followed a tip from the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Interpol. The FBI had filed a complaint with Interpol that some call centers in India were defrauding US citizens for money transactions. CBI conducted inspections in 87 locations and state police in 18 locations across the country.
The raid took place at five locations in Delhi. In addition to this, inspections were also conducted in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Punjab, Chandigarh, Rajasthan, Assam and Karnataka. One kilo of gold and Rs 50 lakh was recovered from a call center in Rajsamand of Rajasthan. Call centers in Pune and Ahmedabad were also raided.
