FBI Seizes $1.7 Million in Digital Assets – Bitcoin, ETH, USDT, DAI, and Monero

Employees of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation seized digital assets from March to May 2023 in the amount of about $1.7 million.

In particular, the agency confiscated $147,000 in Bitcoin, $800,000 in ETH, $307,000 in USDT, $469,000 in DAI and $20,000 in Monero. The assets were in various addresses, including wallets on the Binance exchange.

The largest cumulative amount of seized funds was in the Eastern District of Virginia – more than $1.2 million.

The FBI stressed that the asset forfeiture resulted from various violations of federal laws.

Recall that in July, the US authorities once again moved part of the bitcoins confiscated from the Silk Road darknet marketplace. In multiple transactions, government-affiliated wallets transferred over 9824 BTC (~$300 million at the time of writing).
