FBI agents searched the home of former President Donald Trump. The former US president wrote this in a statement. “My beautiful home, Mar-a-lago in Palm Beach, is currently under siege, raided and occupied by a large group of FBI agents”
Trump shared the statement on his own social network Truth Social. “After collaborating with relevant government organizations, this unannounced raid on my home was not necessary or appropriate,” Trump said of the search of his Florida home. The FBI agents also searched his safe.
Trump accuses the “radical-left Democrats” of trying to prevent him at all costs from running for the 2024 presidential election. Trump also says the raid should help Democrats in the House and Senate midterm elections in November.

According to anonymous sources who The New York Times said the raid has to do with material Trump allegedly took with him after he left the White House. It would be fifteen boxes containing, among other things, confidential documents.
Trump delayed returning the boxes to the National Archives for months, only doing so after threats of action. The FBI’s search of Trump’s home could mean that the Justice Department’s investigation into the January 6, 2021 storming of the Capitol is focused on Trump himself.
The White House refers to the Justice Department, which, according to Bloomberg news agency, will not comment on the statement Trump posted to Truth Social. Donald Trump in his statement himself does not provide any details about exactly what the FBI agents were looking for.
