On March 18 next year, the successful Los Angeles alternative R&B band Moonchild, consisting of Latvian musician Andris Mattson, will visit the Palladium Concert Hall for the first time. Tickets in the “Biļešu Serviss” network are available from Friday, November 5, at 12.00.
The Los Angeles trio Moonchild consists of Amber Navran, Max Bryk and also Latvian multi-instrumentalist, composer, arranger and producer Andris Mattson, who has gained considerable recognition in the field of soul music, R&B and jazz music. The band Moonchild started their musical activity thanks to the soloist Amber Navran’s EP album “Speak Up”, which was made while still studying. Back then, on an album presentation tour with concerts in the United States, Amber approached his band members to accompany the album presentation, and during the tour, the musicians discovered that they had a very similar musical taste, which resulted in the band. Initially, the trio focused on the genre of jazz and soul music, but during their 10 years of existence, in search of new means of musical expression and musical influences, they have come to music that can be best described as an alternative to R&B.
Moonchild embodies a mix of sophisticated, progressive music with a classic calm sound. In November 2021, the band released the album Starfruit, which they call their own anniversary album. During the ten years spent working and growing together, their new album “Starfruit” shows the trio’s respect, musical understanding and love for each other and for the guest artists who contributed to the album. With a number of beautiful melodies and personal lyrics in the songs on the album “Starfruit”, guest artists such as Lalah Hathaway, Alex Isley, Tank and The Bangas, Rapsody, Ill Camille, Mumu Fresh, Chantae Cann and Josh Johnson have participated. Starfruit, the band’s fifth studio album, followed the acclaimed Little Ghost (2019), Voyager (2017), Please Rewind (2015) and Be Free (2012) albums. They were welcomed by DJs from BBC Radio 1, BBC1Xtra, BBC Radio 2, BBC 6Music, FIP, KCRW and Jazz FM, who named the band the soul debutants of the year. They have received accolades from The Fader, Paste, Complex, Echoes, Saint Heron, Okayplayer and NPR (Moonchild’s Tiny Desk now has more than 3.7 million views), and The List has more than 15 million views on YouTube .
Moonchild has collaborated and toured with such well-known artists as Kamasi Washington, Stevie Wonder, The Internet, Jill Scott and received iconic music support from Robert Glasper and Laura Mvula to James Poyser, Jazzy Jeff, 9th Wonder and Tyler, The Creator. Tickets for the March 18 concert in the Palladium Concert Hall can be purchased in the “Biļešu Serviss” network from Friday, November 5, at 12.00.
