FBI Arrests Tennessee Man for Threatening to Kill Immigrants in Texas

A shocking arrest has taken place in Tennessee, as the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) apprehended a man named Paul Faye Sr. for threatening to kill immigrants in Eagle Pass, Texas. This disturbing incident unfolded on Friday, February 2, when Faye attempted to sell an unregistered rifle muzzle suppressor to an undercover FBI agent. Little did he know that his sinister plans were about to be unravelled.

The investigation into Faye’s activities began back in March of 2023, when the FBI discovered his connection to another individual who had expressed intentions of committing acts of violence at the U.S.-Mexico border. Acting swiftly, undercover agents managed to gain Faye’s trust and began monitoring his conversations closely. It was during these phone calls that Faye revealed his chilling plot to shoot migrants in Eagle Pass alongside members of a paramilitary group.

If convicted on the charge of ‘Possession or transfer of a nonregistered firearm (Suppressor),’ Faye could face up to 10 years in prison and a fine of $250,000. The severity of these potential consequences reflects the gravity of his intentions and the danger he posed to innocent lives.

This arrest comes at a time when tensions are already high in the Eagle Pass area. Recently, a convoy consisting of secessionist and white nationalist-affiliated individuals made their way to the region, further exacerbating concerns among residents. However, many locals argue that the true cause for worry lies elsewhere.

Residents of Eagle Pass have revealed that they are more concerned about the potential danger stirred up by Governor Greg Abbott than by immigrants attempting to cross the Rio Grande. The governor’s rhetoric and actions have been called into question, with some accusing him of inciting domestic terrorism. Gilberto Hinojosa, the Texas Democratic Party Chair, issued a statement condemning Republicans in the state for fueling hatred towards migrants and border communities without offering any real solutions.

“They welcome MAGA extremists to our borders while spouting racist lies, fueling hatred toward migrants, border communities, and the federal government – all while offering no real tangible solutions to this humanitarian crisis,” Hinojosa wrote. “Poisoning the blood of our country” has become their rallying cry, with the impending bloodshed ready to fall on Greg Abbott’s hands.”

As news of Faye’s arrest spreads, many are left questioning the underlying issues that have contributed to such hostility and animosity in the region. The treatment of immigrants and the divisive political climate have undoubtedly played a significant role in fanning the flames of hatred.

Texas Public Radio has reached out to Governor Greg Abbott’s office for comment but has yet to receive a response. It remains to be seen how state officials will address these serious concerns and work towards creating a safer and more inclusive environment for all residents of Eagle Pass.
