The kings and queens of squares have their card to play at the regional league pétanque championships, which will take place from Thursday May 26 to Sunday May 29 at the Christian-Fazzino bowling alley in Montluçon (Allier). This will be the first time that the Auvergne and Rhône-Alpes championships will be one.
Triplets men
Precisely, among the nearly 450 players expected is Christian Fazzino. The 65-year-old Montluçonnais, multiple world champion and elected player of the 20th century, will notably point the end of his mustache this Saturday for the queen event of the triplets. Now licensed to Bron, the team he will form with Marc Foyot and Jean Feltain, his companions and club, will undoubtedly be among the favorites.
But the competition will be tough. With the other local world champion, the Cosne-d’Allier player Philippe Suchaud, who will be associated with Dominique Usaï and Antoine Cano, his teammates from Arlanc. Not to mention the Marais Pétanque Montluçon team, made up of Pierre Spinouze, Benoît Blanchet and Jean-Pierre Juillot.

Competition Format
Like all the other competitions of these championships, these triplets will be played on the following format: pools of four teams, the first two of which will be qualified in eighths, then quarters, semis and final.
Mixed doublets
Ditto therefore in mixed doubles, Sunday, where there will also be beautiful people. Let’s mention in Bron the world champion Charlotte Darodes with the European champion Richard Feltain. Or at the Canuts de Lyon the European champion Tyson Molinas and the French champion Isabelle Calchera.
Doublets men
As for the men’s doubles, from this Thursday, the title could be disputed between the pairs Suchaud / Chapeland (Arlanc) and Dubois / Mallet (Canuts). Remember that, in all categories, the first three will qualify for the next French championships. Except in men’s triples, where it will be the top six who will reach the goal.

– Thursday, May 26: men’s doubles and women’s head-to-head.
– Friday, May 27: veteran triplets.
– Saturday, May 28: men’s triplets and women’s triplets.
– Sunday, May 29: mixed doubles.
Every day the games start at 8 am, at the Christian-Fazzino bowling alley in Montluçon (Allier).
