In 2009 a girl was murdered in Schweinfurt, in 2017 a young woman in Aschaffenburg. The accused are each their fathers. The common motive from the point of view of the investigators: the men did not agree with the lifestyle of their daughters. In both cases, the term honor killing buzzes through the media. The new episode of the Main Post podcast “Mordsgesprche”deals with this term and the cruel deeds behind it.
19-year-old Mezgin N. from Aschaffenburg and 15-year-old Bsra. from Schweinfurt had to die because they wanted to live differently than their families – especially their fathers – expected of them. At least that’s what the investigators are initially assuming in both cases. But it turns out that the motives are not as clear as initially thought.

The moderators Corbinian Wildmeister and Silke Albrecht also talk to Dr. Enis Tiz from the law faculty of the University of Wrzburg. He wrote his doctoral thesis on the subject of honor killing. dr Among other things, Tiz explains what the cultural background of the perpetrators has to do with the deeds and why, despite all the criticism, he considers the term honor killing to be appropriate.
