Fathers and mothers of the Miguel de Cervantes school concentrate to avoid the suppression of a line of Infant

Members of the ‘Ciudad del Tajo’ Parents’ and Mothers’ Association (AMPA) of the Miguel de Cervantes Public School, have gathered this morning in the vicinity of the center to show their rejection of the elimination of one of the two lines of Children of three years.

In the protest, in which some 50 parents have participated, they have explained that a total of 36 enrollment applications have been received at the educational center “which would allow the two lines of Infant to be maintained, but for now and after the contacts maintained with the Provincial Delegation of Education, they do not give us security of being able to recover it”, has informed the president of the AMPA, Pepi Sierra.

In this sense, the parents have affirmed that the City Council “is also taking measures to protest and seek a solution in front of the Delegation for maintaining the two lines of 3-year-olds, with 18 students for each class, and leftover places for New additions”.

«From the Provincial Delegation of Education of Malaga they informed us that the recovery of the 3-year line has been requested, leaving the final decision in the Ministry of Seville, and they do not give us security of recovering it. From the AMPA we know that the Delegation of Malaga does have a lot to say on this subject and that this is throwing balls out, “say the fathers and mothers.

This situation, they say, puts the Miguel de Cervantes school at a disadvantage compared to the rest of the educational centers in the city and that with this measure what is done is to favor the concerted schools.

Also, the elimination of this line may lead to a reduction in care resources for all students “and especially for students who have special care needs, since this would also reduce staff.”

For all these reasons, the parents have shown their rejection of this decision and as a first step, more than 3,000 signatures have been collected so far in support of the center continuing to maintain the two Infant lines, which have been sent to different Education departments.
