Andri Runarsson (21) has been playing for SC DHfK Leipzig since this season – and therefore under his father. Runar Sigtryggsson (51) is a coach for the handball Bundesliga team.
Runarsson was brought from Iceland to support director Luca Witzke (24). But now he has to replace him. Witzke, a German international, will be out for weeks with a thigh injury.
Now the son has to bring dad points!
The playmaker is called upon when it comes to difficult-to-win points in Lemgo (Sunday), Flensburg (Wednesday) and against Kiel (Saturday). After only three points from six games recently, the club is under heavy pressure.

How does he himself deal with the special situation? Andri says: “At SC DHfK he is my coach and when we are alone at home, he is my father. We can decide this very professionally from each other. Sometimes he is even stricter with me. But that’s a good thing and it shouldn’t be any different. What’s important is that I can play on the biggest stage.”
And that is the Liqui Moly Handball Bundesliga.
