Father of Murdered Son Placed in Detention After Threatening the Suspects: Guy Trompat’s Trial at Niort Criminal Court

Guy Trompat was tried in immediate appearance at the Niort Criminal Court on Thursday. Accused of wanting to avenge his son Kevin, murdered with his partner Leslie Hoorelbeke at the end of November, the man, already convicted on multiple occasions, was placed in detention to serve a four-month sentence which he had received in December 2022. The hearing, which took place this afternoon, was adjourned to June 2.

He reportedly threatened with death and sought to attack those who are accused of having killed his son and daughter-in-law.

Guy Trompat, the father of Kevin Trompat, this young man found dead with his partner Leslie Hoorelbeke on March 3 and 4 in Charente-Maritime, more than three months after their disappearance in Prahecq (Deux-Sèvres), was tried in immediate appearance this Thursday, May 4 at the Niort Criminal Court for “facts qualified as instigation to assassination not followed by effect and death threats materialized in writing, image or any other object in recidivism”.

In particular, he is accused of having uttered death threats against those charged in the case linked to the disappearance of his son and of having offered a sum of money to anyone who would kill them or their relatives. , via social media. This proposal would have been relayed in various penitentiary establishments and would have been followed by the distribution of photographs of the persons targeted.

At the end of the hearing, the 50-year-old man was placed under a warrant of committal. Transferred in the afternoon, he will sleep in the penitentiary center of Poitiers-Vivonne this evening. This decision follows another conviction, this time to four months in prison, which he had received in December 2022, but which he had not, at this time, served.

It is to settle this sentence that Guy Trompat will be imprisoned. For the judge, the decision rendered is also justified by “the risks of pressure on witnesses” of the Leslie and Kevin affair, whom Guy Trompat is suspected of having threatened.

In the file opened in November in Niort after the disappearance of Leslie and Kevin, transferred at the end of December to the criminal investigation center of Poitiers, five young men were indicted and placed in pre-trial detention, in particular for “murders”.

Among them, Tom Trouillet, 22, Kevin’s best friend, who was to host the couple the night of their disappearance, arrested in Vendée at the end of February, indicted for kidnapping and forcible confinement. With him, too, Nathan Badji, 22, and Enzo C, 23, indicted for the same counts as Tom Trouillet, as well as for murder and modification of a crime scene.

According to the police investigation, Kevin’s father would have promised 100,000 euros to those who managed to attack the suspects.

A butcher by training, Guy Trompat is well known to French justice. He has received 22 convictions since 1993, for various offences. Kevin’s father was already in detention at the Niort remand center when his son disappeared on November 26. He was released last February and allowed to serve the rest of his sentence under an electronic bracelet. The father was thus able to participate in the white march organized in Niort on Sunday March 12, in tribute to the couple.

During his hearing, the latter had asked to be placed under judicial control with a treatment order and a ban on contact with the victims. He admitted making death threats in videos posted on social media, but denied seeking to eliminate the suspects. Regarding the threats, he explains that he spoke “under the influence of anger”, but claims that he never intended to take action.

For the facts of which he is still accused, Kevin’s father faces a ten-year prison sentence. His hearing is postponed, at the request of the defendant, to June 2, 2023. Time for Guy Trompat, who remains presumed innocent, to prepare his defense from the Poitiers-Vivonne prison center.
