Because Avery Sanford had just turned 18, the alimony that her father had to pay her mother since the divorce came to an end.
“I was in the middle of an online class when my dad came by with a rented trailer,” Avery tells TV channel WTVR. “He stopped, reversed the trailer and dumped the coins in the grass in front of our house. When my mother asked what he was doing, my father replied, “This is your last alimony.”
“It’s not just my mother that he makes fun of, but also me and my sister,” said Avery, who had been out of contact with her father for years. “It’s a shame he didn’t think of that before doing this.”
Mother and daughter removed the coins from the lawn with a snow shovel. They want to put a positive spin on the bizarre action and donate the money to victims of domestic violence.
Built-up frustration
Against WTVR Richmond told the father that he acted on a whim. He would have dumped the money because of 18 years of accumulated frustration. It was not the intention to make the relationship with his daughter even worse.
