A New York parent was forcibly removed from a school meeting for not wearing a mask.
—
The incident happened this Tuesday during a meeting of the Webster School Boardnear Rochester, where he went to express concern about students wearing masks.
—
As reported by Spectrum News, upon arrival at the meeting site Dave Calus saw that there were signs indicating that the use of masks was necessary and, in fact, one was handed to him at the entrance, however, he decided not to use it.
—
What happened next was recorded on video: a security guard exchanges words with him and finally drags him with his chair and pushes him with the help of others out of the room.
—
Later, the father of two children indicated that the guard I had asked him about three times to put on the mask. And, when he finally said that he wouldn’t wear it, he ended up dragging him.
—
“Then he came up to me and said sir, you need to wear a mask”, Calus commented to that medium. “I said, ‘thank you very much.’ He came back and said, you need to wear a mask right now. I said, ‘thank you very much’. And then he said, you have to put that on right now. Y I said, ‘no, I’m not going to do it.’ And then he put his hands on me”.
—
When this happened, some women present are heard shouting: “What are you doing?! What are you doing?! That’s assault!”. Yet another question: “Do you also lay hands on our children?”
—
The video has gone viral, prompting many to debate whether the guard used excessive force in his quest to enforce the mask mandate.
—
While the district says Calus was asked to leave, he says he wasn’t.
—
Both the Webster Police Department and the Webster School District are investigating this incident.
