In the first episode of the season, Art visits Donnie, who calls himself a ‘phenomenon’, his son Odín and girlfriend Lois – who prefers to avoid the cameras. The couple has been together for about eight years now. “It was on Leidseplein, in the Chicago Social Club,” the rapper says of their first meeting. “We were there and I saw her, then I said, ‘Hi, do you want a drink from me?'”
Apparently his attempt at seduction worked, because Donnie says that after the conversation they have not lost sight of each other. “From the second week we’ve always been together. Until today.”

Lois turns impulsive Donnie, whose real name is Donald Scloszkie, down a notch. “We just keep each other in balance,” said the 27-year-old, who starts to beam when his son enters the room. He himself grew up without a father; from an early age, Donnie’s Swedish father played no part in his life. That is why he thinks it is so important to be there for his son.
“Because I have now become a father myself, you suddenly see that mirror,” says the rapper. “If I leave now it’s not that I’m not there for 27 years. That’s pretty cold. I used to romanticize the idea that he wasn’t there, and thought he was busy. Only now do I realize you can do it romanticizing, it’s actually really bad.”

Currently, the two have sporadic contact with each other, but what bothers Donnie is that it always has to come from him. His father never contacts him on his own and has never seen his grandson. “I don’t expect him to show up at my door with a bunch of flowers, but you can just show interest (…) He didn’t congratulate me on my birthday either. You do know that my birthday is on August 5, right? But he didn’t know…. let’s move on.”
So Donnie is determined to do things differently herself. He says: “I have become… more serious – that may not be the right word, but I have become sharper: that I will work even harder, because I now also have to be there for my son. I also like that he can see later that he can become anything he wants.” Something that was not always obvious for Donnie with his stutter, he says in the video below:
