Reporter Hong Wen / Taipei Report

The Golden Horse actor Chen Yiwen won the “Best Actor Award” in the short film competition at the 40th Hawaii International Film Festival with the Taiwan short film “Growing Pains” a while ago. The film’s premiere will be held today (7th). Director Lin Baiyu said frankly: “This film is a story in my life. When I was 14 years old, my father burned charcoal and committed suicide while lying in his work truck. At that time, I had no home. My lord, the police took me to identify the body, so the picture of my father’s body has been lingering in my mind for many years.”

Director Lin Baiyu said frankly that it was quite painful when filming, especially when applying for a short film counselling fund. In order to win funds, telling these stories to the judges was very empty and had to recollect the pain. He revealed that when filming the scene where the truck recognizes the corpse, when Chen Yiwen drew the corpse and makeup on the car, he remembered the appearance of his father’s corpse. He was emotionally down. He asked the photographer to help the filming. He walked forward with his back to the crew and cried Later, when I looked back, I found that the crew was still working hard, so I consciously should go back to shoot, or I would be sorry for the whole team.

Chen Yiwen revealed that when he first met the director, he learned that it was his childhood experience. He couldn’t bear to exclaim, “Wow! How did you come along?” Director Lin Baiyu admitted frankly that his father had always blamed himself in the years since his death. I was the last to talk to my father, “I was chatting with him at that time, and he only told me to buy lotto! When I died the next day, I felt very guilty. Why didn’t I catch him? Later I found out that it was really not. Your question, I also hope to talk to children with the same experience.”

Director Lin Baiyu said frankly that for 16 years, his father’s suicide has been a pain that his family did not dig. Even though his mother always knew that he was going to shoot this subject, she has always supported him to complete the film, but he is not yet ready to watch the film for his family. I am worried about the reaction of my mother or other family members. In the past, short films were rarely screened alone. “Young Ayao” was supported by theaters. It will be officially released in 7 theaters across Taiwan from January 8th. The ticket price will also be adjusted to 160 yuan. Chen Yiwen hopes that everyone will actually buy tickets and give A little more support from the new director.
