The incident occurred on February 3, at approximately 10:20 PM, when a Toyota Corolla driven by a 46-year-old man from Burgas veered into the opposite lane at an improper speed, colliding head-on with a BMW driven by a 46-year-old man from Varna.
The Toyota driver sustained life-threatening injuries, including a broken pelvis, a fractured left knee, broken ribs, and a shattered wrist. He was instantly rushed to the Resuscitation Division of the University Hospital-Varna, where he remains in critical condition. His 19-year-old son,who was also in the vehicle,suffered abdominal trauma but is reported to be out of immediate danger. He is currently under observation in the University Surgery Unit of UMBAL-Varna.
