To see their hero Cristiano Ronaldo live is the big dream of this British father-son duo. But so far the two have been plagued by bad luck.
Football matches in the Premier League can be quite costly for the fans. But for Chris Broome, no journey is too far and no ticket too expensive to finally see the Portuguese Manchester United star play. After all, he promised his twelve-year-old son Zac. But so far, the two just had no luck. And now the adventure has cost the family almost 4,000 euros.
No Ronaldo in Turin
Dad Chris took his son on a trip to Turin two years ago hoping to see Ronaldo play at Juve. Travel and tickets cost more than 1,800 euros, only to find out in the stadium that the superstar was rested in this game of all things.
When the 37-year-old Portuguese then moved back to Manchester, the two saw their chance. After all, it’s only a good three-and-a-half hour drive from her home town of Sommerset to Manchester. The first Ronaldo game should be a very special one. The derby at Manchester City was on March 6th. Father and son bought tickets for the top game and booked hotel rooms in Manchester for a total of almost 1,800 euros again. But who was missing? That’s right, Ronaldo suffered an adductor injury shortly before the game and only experienced the bitter 1:4 bankruptcy from the sidelines.
No Ronaldo in Manchester
This time, Chris and Zac didn’t give up so easily. The two made their way back to Manchester for the home game against Leicester City last Saturday. After all, the tickets were free this time and there was at least a 1:1 to see. The only drawback: Cristiano Ronaldo once again had flu symptoms. “It’s costing me my life,” a frustrated Chris Broome told the British Sun. However, he does not want to give up: “I promised Zac that I would see Ronaldo play with him, so I will make sure that it happens, no matter what.” Perhaps the two shouldn’t wait too long before their next attempt. Rumors are already circulating that Ronaldo could possibly leave Manchester after this season. And who knows how far father and son would have to travel to make their dream come true.
