Father and his child burned with oil in a playground during a brawl; woman arrested in New York

A 5-year-old boy and his father were burned with hot cooking oil when a pot was thrown at them during a fight at a playground in Bushwick, Brooklyn..

According to the NYPD, the victims were among those attending a large gathering at Heckscher Playground around 9:30 p.m. Sunday. But the festive gathering took a turn when an argument broke out.

During the dispute, a pot tipped over and splashed hot oil on the boy and his 28-year-old father, authorities said.

Rescuers took them to the burn unit at an area hospital, where they were reported in stable condition. The boy suffered injuries to his back and arms, while his father suffered burns to his foot, police said.

A 36-year-old woman was arrested. for allegedly dumping the pot of oil, but authorities had not released his name or specified the charges against him as of yesterday morning, he said. Pix11.
