Fatboy Slim predicts that the music scene will return to its roots in 2021.
The British DJ assumes that concerts and festivals will be influenced by the coronavirus pandemic for a long time to come. “It will be a long time before we do what we used to do at festivals. I think it’s going to start again at the grassroots level where people play in their hometowns, ”he guesses. For the musician it is clear: “It will be an interesting trip to Covid.”
The 57-year-old, who is known for hits like ‘The Rockafeller Skank’, wants to actively dedicate himself to his career again and is hoping for a musical comeback. “I would love to do a week-long show at a local club and build my career from there,” he reveals.
In 2006 the ‘Praise You’ interpreter flew to Cuba for the compilation ‘The Revolution Presents: Revolution’. In an interview with ‘Record Collector’ magazine, he reveals that he suffered from “megalomania” at the time. “I thought that I can do anything and go anywhere. And when I got the chance to be a producer and hang out with these people in Havana, I thought, ‘Yeah, I want some of that too,’ ”says Fatboy Slim. “There was music literally on every corner and I immersed myself in it.”
