In the center of Enschede two people died in a car accident last night. Two others were injured and taken to hospital.
Around 01.45 am, two cars collided on the Oldenzaalsestraat. Two occupants of one car were killed, men aged 29 and 28 from Hengelo. A third occupant was injured, a 24-year-old man from Enschede.
The driver of the other car, a 21-year-old woman from Enschede, was also injured.
Cause unclear
It is not yet known what caused the collision. The police are investigating that. Before that, the street was closed to traffic for several hours.
Because the accident happened in the center, it attracted a lot of attention from the nightlife public. The police therefore cordoned off a wide area around the cars. Victim assistance has been arranged for witnesses who have seen the aftermath of the serious accident.
