One person died in a serious fire on Friday evening in Ghent, Ledeberg. The investigation is still ongoing, but the fire is most likely an accident.
The fire brigade in Ghent was called out on Friday to extinguish a serious fire in the Jozef Vervaenestraat in Ledeberg, but all help came too late for one resident. The official identification of the victim is still awaited, reports Belga news agency. It is probably the son of the residents, who lives on the top floor of the house. The investigation is still ongoing. An autopsy on the body will follow on Saturday afternoon. Presumably there is no malicious intent and it is an accident.
