The police confirm that a woman in her 50s died in the traffic accident on the E39 in Sula on Wednesday afternoon. The woman was Norwegian and native to the district.
The technical investigations at the sites are now complete, but the police are still waiting for a contractor to clear the road. One lane is open, but the police have advised people to drive via county road 60 instead.
The police reported the accident at 14.08.
– It is a serious accident, said operations manager Jens Dahl of the police in Møre and Romsdal shortly afterwards.
The deceased was the driver of the car that collided with the train. The driver of the wagon train must be uninjured.
Traffic has been diverted
The road was partially closed on Wednesday afternoon, and traffic was therefore diverted. Several of the departures on the ferry that usually leave from Solavågen were moved to Magerholm. At 20.40, E39 was reopened in both directions, and ferry traffic resumed as normal.
