The emergency services responded on Thursday afternoon to a report of a traffic accident in Sel in Innlandet. A car must have driven into the ditch and into a tree.
– There were three people in the car. One is driven to Lillehammer hospital, one is flown to hospital and one passenger has been declared dead. Next of kin have been notified, the police write at 5.07pm.
The police state in an update at 18.07 that it was a woman in her 70s who died.
Two men in their 50s and 80s were injured. The people involved have a family connection, and live in Sel municipality.
The road is closed
The emergency services continue to work at the scene, and forensic technicians and the accident team from the Swedish Road Administration are on their way, the police say.
– We are working to get a full overview, says operations manager Haagen Løvseth Gudbrandsdølen Dagningen.
The accident must have happened close to Bråkålii by Sjoa on county road 2598. The police currently have no information about the driving conditions at the site, the operations manager told the newspaper.
Vegtrafikksentralen öst writes on X that the road is closed. An alternative detour is signposted via E6 Sjoa – Kvam, they say.
