Dresden. A man was fatally stabbed on a tram in Dresden. According to the police, the 40-year-old was taken to a hospital in critical condition on Saturday morning, where he died a little later.
The alleged attacker, a 32-year-old man, was arrested at the scene. The victim and suspect are Somalis, according to police. The background of the fact is still completely unclear.
The attack occurred on a line 7 tram at the “Malterstrasse” stop on Kesselsdorfer Strasse, a police spokesman said. The emergency services were informed by an emergency call around 10:30 a.m. that “someone is said to have been stabbed” on the train. The victim suffered multiple stab wounds. Witnesses on site in Löbtau reported a large pool of blood in the door area of the train. A Crisis Intervention Team (KIT) was sent to the scene to provide psychological support and care for witnesses and those affected.
What exactly happened must now be clarified by witness statements and the evaluation of the video surveillance in the tram. The crime scene was cordoned off, forensic technicians secured tracks on the train. The alleged murder weapon, a knife, was also secured.
